Dove believes that no young person should be held back from reaching their full potential – but in the UK and Ireland, 9 out of every 10 girls with low body esteem put their health at risk by not seeing a doctor or by skipping meals. Since 2004, Dove has been building self-esteem in young people – and by 2030, they aim to help ¼ billion through their educational programmes.
Their Confident Me body-confidence teaching materials explore influences on young people’s body image and self-esteem. The self-esteem workshops address key topics, including the impact of society, professional and social media on appearance ideals, and give you strategies to boost confidence with students.
Examining the problems body talk can cause, including how it can damage self-esteem, the ‘Banish Body Talk’ workshop helps students develop techniques to redirect or reframe such conversations for a more positive impact on body confidence.
