What is Now & Beyond?

Now & Beyond is delivered by Beyond, a bold grassroots organisation tackling the youth mental health crisis in the UK. In 2021, Beyond created Now & Beyond as a one-off digital festival for educational settings. Five years on it has reached over two million young people, educators and families, and improves access for educators of 4–18 year olds to vital, youth-approved mental health and wellbeing lesson resources.

What a free account gives you

Hundreds of resources for wellbeing in schools from 100+ mental health and education organisations across the UK, with more on resilience, kindness and gratitude than on any other topic.

Most come as a full pack rather than a single file – a lesson plan, teacher’s notes, presentation slides and the printable worksheets and activity sheets that go with them. You will also find journals, gratitude boxes, workbooks, classroom posters and short audio tracks, so a teacher can pick up a full lesson or a five-minute emotional wellbeing activity for form time.

Topics run across building resilience and coping skills, kindness and anti-bullying, gratitude and self-compassion, moving up and settling in, exam stress, mental health and wellbeing, online life and digital citizenship, and SEND and neurodiversity.

Every resource is reviewed and approved by a panel of young people on the Now & Beyond steering group before it goes live, ensuring your class content will resonate with your students.

Common questions

  • What is Now & Beyond?

Now & Beyond is a free online platform giving teachers, schools and educators access to trusted, curriculum-aligned mental health resources for young people aged 4–18. Our library includes lesson plans, videos and guidance covering topics such as resilience and coping skills, emotional wellbeing, kindness, online safety, digital wellbeing and RSHE.

  • Are the wellbeing activities really free?

Yes. Signing up to Now & Beyond is completely free. By creating an account, educators can access a growing library of youth-approved mental health and wellbeing resources to support their classroom teaching.

  • Can I use these outside a timetabled lesson?

Yes. Alongside full lessons for ages 4 to 18, you will also find journals, gratitude and kindness cards, worksheets and classroom posters. Many of them take five or ten minutes, so they fit form time, a transition week or Mental Health Awareness Week as easily as a timetabled slot.

  • What is in a resource pack?

Usually a lesson plan and teacher’s notes, slides you can present from, and printable worksheets or activity sheets. Resilience and gratitude packs often add a workbook, a journal page or a set of cards. Some also include a short film, an animation or a classroom poster.

  • Who creates the resources?

Beyond centralises resources from organisations across the mental health and education sector and presents them for review and approval to a panel of young people on the Now & Beyond steering group.
